The Ukiah High News team would like to congratulate Junior Nicole Muniz and Senior Maritza Jacobs, the dynamic single players of the UHS Tennis team. The duo participated and won 3rd place in the annual doubles tournament at Santa Rosa Junior College on November 1st and 2nd.
Aaron O’Brien grew up in Ukiah and told us he wanted to return home. He noticed an open athletic director position at Ukiah High School and jumped at the opportunity.
For the first time in many years, Ukiah High School has a Junior Varsity Cheer Team. UHS News spoke with a few members of the squad and the coaching staff about bringing the team back to life.
When facing this team again, 12th grader Athena Dahl wants to diversify her plays instead of just hitting ground strokes forcing her opponent to move around the court.
Coach Naomi Rhodes said, ¨I'm excited to build off that success and continue to improve our game against some pretty difficult competition in the Oak League.”
12th grader Kaylee Gaylord found the course “rather challenging.” Gaylord added the course “pushed me to my physical limits but it was very rewarding. In spite of the challenging hills I was quite satisfied with my time.”
If you're interested in seeing Ukiah Boys Water Polo in action, they'll be competing against American Canyon High School on this Saturday, October 23 at 11:00 a.m.
Looking ahead at the 2021 Season, 12th grader Beatrix Holstein said, “We’ve got a huge team, lots of fun girls, and I think it’s going to be a really fun season.”
