With a full quarter of the 26-27 school year underway, fashion trends are more noticeable than ever. Clothes are one of the many ways people express themselves. Here’s a sampling of what our Wildcats are wearing this fall.
The trend of 90s-style baggy clothing and layering is still here, and Future McLeod, a junior at Ukiah High, is a perfect example of this. UHS News asked McLeod how he developed his style, and he shared, “I never really had that many options with picking and choosing when I was growing up, so it kind of, like, evolved into me just picking random stuff and putting them together, and then it ends up looking good.” He said that thrifting is a huge part of making his look work.

Kira Douthit also said that the majority of her style comes from the art of thrifting. She shared that the show Project Runway inspired many of her outfits, as well as the way her mom dressed her from a young age. She told UHS News, “I’m not someone who really wants to go for wearing the most basic thing. If I have a choice, I’d rather it be a little cool.”

For a more alternative look, UHS News interviewed Thea Jackson, who shared that she developed her style over the summer with the goal of being bolder with her fashion statements. Thea said that in middle school, “I looked up to people who dress like me, and I just wanted to be like them.” She likes to shop at Hot Topic, and her favorite brand is Zumiez.

Colton Buzzell prefers a more formal look and says that he had to experiment with a variety of styles to get to where he’s at. He shared, “I found that quarter zips, and you know, that kind of style resonated.” Buzzell added that his fashion makes him “feel more put together.”

These are just a few of the styles around campus. What styles have you noticed? Let us know in the comments. @ukiahilite
