Today, December 8th, 2023, the Ukiah High Wildcats unleashed their artistic prowess at the December Performing Arts Showcase, treating both staff and students to a spectacular feast of performing arts delights!

One of the performances students enjoyed was Ukiah High’s jazz ensemble led by Audrey McCombs. The ensemble included saxophones, trombones, trumpets, drums, bass guitar, and a piano. Thanks to Revyn Marmon and Willam Nacca for knocking their solos out of the park!

Another standout performance was the dance routine performed by Ukiah High’s Golden Cats dance team and members of the dance PE class. The routine included the classic Mean Girls dance, a dance to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want to for Christmas Is You” with Jayleen Mendoza and Jadiyn Sanders lip-singing the vocal solos. The finale was a wonderful ending with approximately 30 dancers on stage including Santa Claus.

Drama teacher Chris Douthit’s advanced drama students put on a lovely rendition of the holiday classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. After the team ran through the play once,  they redid it twice continuously picking up the speed and resulting in laughs galore. Senior Tessa Strickland had a compelling moment on stage portraying the ghost of Christmas past, and put Scrooge also known as Sophomore Annie Singer in his place by showing him what he has done wrong.

Ukiah High’s Choir

Ukiah High’s Choir, led by Josh Small, brought songs of the season to Wildcat Nation. The student singers provided a full range of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, sharing two Christmas songs and finishing their performance with a Hanukkah song.
