On the night of April 27th, 2024, the Ukiah High School 2024 Prom was held at the gorgeous Red Barn Ranch in Hopland. Mainly attended by upperclassmen, Wildcats danced under the stars as the school year came to an end. UHS News spoke with attendees about the annual night to remember.
As the 11th Grade Junior Class President, Rylee Capri was one of the main organizers of the event, a huge task for any student to take on. Since Prom was the last dance of the year, she said it was “a great opportunity to make memories.”

The venue was a unique combination of farm life and glam night. Wildcats wearing tuxedos and dresses danced beneath the stars. Green vines twinkle lights hung from the barn’s balcony over the dance floor. Inside the iconic barn, Wildcats could take a breather or use decorative mirrors or Enchanted Forest backdrops to take pictures.
As the sunset and the temperatures cooled attendees kept warm aside the campfire where smores were served. Refreshments were available such as copycat Taco Bell-style slushies and a smorgasbord of treats like brownies, cookies, and candy.

Kylee Rodriguez, the mom of Ukiah High Senor Jordan Rodriguez, reflected on seeing her boy attend his last school dance before graduating high school, “It honestly makes my heart happy. To see them with their good buddies, having fun, and making lifetime memories.”
Senior Jaidyn Atherton rated the prom as 10/10. She said the number one rule of any prom is “never miss the chance to dance.”

Senior Colby Goodson attended prom for his first and last time just months before graduating from Ukiah High School. He said, “It was fun getting to hang out with my friends, and all of our dates, and it was nice getting to see everyone out of their element and having fun.”

12th grader Izzy Nickerson said Prom was “overall a good night.” The highlight of the night for Nickerson was “dancing with my friend” saying “It’s always really fun when we are jumping up and down and singing together.”
Chloe Harmony is a Freshman and a journalist at Ukiah High School. In her free time, Chloe enjoys reading and dancing. She joined the journalism class because she is interested in writing. Chloe thinks of herself as a vivacious but hard working young woman and is looking forward to writing about athletics and student life.
