As the school year ends, our favorite event is about to begin, prom!

Ukiah High will once again return to our favorite OG spot, Red Barn Ranch. For the past two years we have not been able to attend prom at the Red Barn Ranch due to the pandemic, so this year, we’re going to make it count!

The UHS News teams spoke to the junior class president Laila Tyler about the details we know thus far.

The theme this year is Dreamland. Discord includes fairy lights, glitter, stars, and lots of the color purple.

Prom is taking place on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Due to safety concerns, students are not permitted to drive to the venue and parents cannot drop or pick them up. There will be buses going between Ukiah High and Red Barn Ranch for students that come later or want to leave earlier.  The dance is completely over at 11 p.m.

Tickets will be 1 for $30 and 2 for $50 and sold at Student Activities during break or lunch. Students can only buy two tickets per person. Freshmen and sophomores aren’t allowed to purchase tickets, but if invited by higher classmen, they can attend as long as they turn in a guest pass at A23. The last day to purchase the tickets is Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

There will a range of food options including woodfire pizza, a gelato truck, finger foods from Schats, and non-alcoholic mocktails.

The dress code for prom is formal. Most girls will be wearing long dresses while most guys will be in tuxes. Guys can get their tuxedos at MacNab’s Men’s Wear on North State Street. It’s recommended that girls not wear pointy heels because you will likely sink into the grass and gravel at the Red Barn Ranch.

Get ready to dance the night away, Wildcats!
