This winter, Ukiah High School celebrated its talented performing arts students with a dazzling Winter Performance. Featuring the choir, drama department, dance team, and band, the event was a showcase of creativity, hard work, and collaboration that left the audience inspired and impressed.
The day began with a stirring performance by the choir. Their assortment of winter classics, including a delightful rendition of Love is an Open Door, set the festive tone for the night. The choir’s harmonies and heartfelt delivery drew a strong ovation, and their energy and precision left the audience eagerly anticipating the next act.
Following the choir, the drama department took the stage with a compelling scene from their upcoming spring production. With sharp dialogue, engaging humor, and strong acting, the performance highlighted the depth of talent in Ukiah High’s theater program, led by English and Drama teacher Chris Douthit. The actors delivered a polished and engaging performance, leaving the audience excited for plays later in the year.
Next, the dance department, led by Rachel Porter, dazzled with a routine inspired by The Grinch. However, before the performance could begin, a technical hiccup with the music briefly interrupted the show. In a moment of teamwork and quick thinking, the choir stepped in to entertain the audience with impromptu renditions of “Jingle Bells” and “Feliz Navidad.” Their lively and festive songs kept the audience engaged while the issue was resolved. Once the music was restored, the dance team began their performance with grace and precision, earning a thunderous round of applause.
The evening culminated in a symphony of sound as the band took the stage, weaving together rhythmic precision and melodic depth. Their performance crescendoed in an electrifying finale, leaving the audience awash in applause, a fitting end to a night brimming with artistic expression.
The Winter Performance was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of Ukiah High School’s performing arts students. It was more than just a show, it was a celebration of creativity, resilience, and the power of the arts that brought the community together. As attendees left the auditorium, many expressed excitement for what these talented students will deliver next.
