Many young people dream of going to Ivy Leagues colleges working hard to achieve the highest GPAs, taking the most college classes, doing the most extracurriculars, and writing the best college application essays.

According to CrimsonEducation.org, Harvard receives over 56,937 yearly and only around 3% are lucky enough to be granted admission. Madeline Armstrong, a 12th grader at Ukiah High, was one of these 3% to be offered a spot at one of America’s most prestigious universities.

We spoke with Madeline Armstrong for the inside scoop. Armstrong has the highest GPA in the 12th-grade class with a 4.73. She has never gotten less than an A. She is very excited to attend Harvard.

When she received her letter of acceptance via email, she thought it was a joke. “We thought I applied to the wrong school like Harvard Online.”

Armstrong wants to go into Biology because she hopes to one day become a surgeon and explained that Harvard dedicates the first year there to exploring the many major options before declaring a major.

Armstrong represents the best and brightest of Wildcat Nationa and we celebrate her achievement and wish her luck on her Harvard journey.
