Another Wildcat, Reagan McDougall is going to be voting this November. Expressing the feeling of voting for the first time, McDougall said, “It feels surreal. I remember going with my mom to vote every four years and always getting an ‘I voted’ sticker. Now this November, I can actually put an ‘I voted’ sticker on and it can be true!”
The CDPH also says that climate change’s adverse effects will not equally be distributed amongst the population: “Climate change magnifies existing health disparities. Disadvantaged populations, such as those with low education, experiencing racial segregation, low social support, poverty, and income inequality face disproportionate climate-related health burden.”
Dr. Andy Coren, Mendocino County Public Health Officer, discussed the symptoms of breathing in wildfire smoke and its relation to COVID-19: "Since COVID-19 and smoke inhalation have overlapping symptoms, adding both hazards could cause worse symptoms."
