Ukiah High School has announced its new class officers for the 2025–2026 school year, just in time for one of the campus’s biggest traditions — Homecoming. The newly elected Wildcats say they’re ready to take on their roles and represent their classmates.
Senior Angel Vega Mendoza, who is serving as class secretary, said he hopes to stay involved in all activities throughout the year. “My goal as secretary this year is to be a part of everything we do … participate, engage in everything,” Mendoza said. He added that he looks forward to working closely with the president and vice president on Homecoming projects.
Sophomore vice president Atenea Rico said she ran for office so her voice — and her classmates’ voices — could be heard. “My goal … is to have a successful Homecoming, to fundraise money to help our class, and have a fun sophomore year,” Rico explained.
The freshman class is led by president William Welch, who said he hopes to “succeed for the entire freshman class” and create opportunities for everyone to participate. Welch said he plans to continue running for president throughout high school. His vice president, Joshua Arrellano, said his focus will be on supporting Welch and bringing new ideas to the table.
Freshman treasurer Nathan Cohen said his goal is to handle money responsibly. “My next step as treasurer is to work with the ASB officers and help with Homecoming,” Cohen said.
With the new officers in place, students are already preparing for skits, decorations, and the other hallmarks of Ukiah High’s spirited Homecoming week.
Savannah Kram
Savannah Kram is a senior at Ukiah High School and in her third year of Journalism. She is the Publicity and Communications Commissioner for the leadership class at UHS and the President of the Ukiahilite Club. She joined the journalism class for new experiences, to write about local and current events, and to bring awareness to subjects that have yet to be spotlighted. She was born in Ukiah, California, but lived in Texas for six years. Returning to Ukiah at the age of 11 inspired her to become more involved within the local community. She is ecstatic to finish her journey at Ukiah High News this school year and hopes to focus on journalism in college.
Briana Goodson is a Junior and a journalist at Ukiah High School. In her free time, Briana enjoys reading books and writing. She also enjoys cheerleading and has done it for many years. She joined the journalism class because she wants to write about things that will keep her peers updated.
She was born in Ukiah California which makes writing things about her community hit close to home. Briana thinks of herself as hardworking but still knows how to show her goofy side. Not only is this Briana’s third year writing for the journalism team at Ukiah High she looks forward to writing for journalism in her Senior year for her last year.
