Wildcat Nation is excited to welcome Bryan Barrett, Pomolita Middle School principal, as Ukiah High’s boys and girls golf coach. Being one of the sports available during the time of a pandemic, Coach Barrett looks forward to leading our school’s golfers to championships.
Coach Barrett is the principal at Pomalita Middle School and has worked there for the last eleven years. This will be his first year coaching golf. He told us, “I have always thought it would be a dream coaching because I love to coach and I love the game.”
Coach Barrett has an extensive history of coaching that includes UHS football and soccer, Pomolita volleyball, basketball, and club soccer and baseball.
Coach Barrett started playing golf as a middle schooler. “I remember riding my bike with my golf clubs on my back going to the course,” Coach Barrett recollects. He explained that he did not get a chance to play in college but played golf often at his local golf course. When Coach Berrett graduated from college he had a job where we could play golf four to five times a week.
Coach Barrett says that his dad was the one that influenced him to start playing golf: “He taught me the game and always stressed the mental part of the game. I still value that today.”
