Music is something that is celebrated everywhere in every community, no matter how big or small, and Ukiah is no different. Our community has a wide variety of musical passion, and it can be seen clearly with the students of Ukiah High School. Some choose to pursue the various different musical groups at the school such as Wind Ensemble or Jazz band, while others go on their own musical adventures. Ukiah High Junior Azalea Morninglight  runs a music account on Instagram called ukuzalie and posts short videos of her singing covers while playing her ukulele.

Morninglight said her musical  life has its roots in her family, mostly her father, as he is in a band of his own. Morninglight said music from many different genres influences her musical voice and that can be seen in her Instagram posts, as she covers artists from the pop singer Lorde to Hip-Hop/R&B legend Ms. Lauryn Hill. With over sixty current posts, there is definitely a lot of content to explore on this Ukiah High Wildcat’s page, with her cover of “Ex-Factor” by Ms. Lauryn Hill and “i wanna be your girlfriend” by girl in red being personal favorites.

Morninglight also shared that she first started the Instagram page a few years ago, but deleted it a little while after. Since then, she has started up the page again and found a new confidence and a new voice to share with her eager followers, who never fail to spread love to  all of her videos. Azalea posts regularly on her Ukuzalie Instagram page and always manages to spread good vibes from the passionate singing and Ukulele playing she engages in. I highly recommend that everyone go check out her music page on Instagram at Ukuzalie and scroll through the countless music videos she has posted.
