The Ukiah High News team would like to congratulate Junior Nicole Muniz and Senior Maritza Jacobs, the dynamic single players of the UHS Tennis team. The duo participated and won 3rd place in the annual doubles tournament at Santa Rosa Junior College on November 1st and 2nd.
Aaron O’Brien grew up in Ukiah and told us he wanted to return home. He noticed an open athletic director position at Ukiah High School and jumped at the opportunity.
For the first time in many years, Ukiah High School has a Junior Varsity Cheer Team. UHS News spoke with a few members of the squad and the coaching staff about bringing the team back to life.
At the beginning of September, cross country coach Chad Raugewitz found a way to start the practices again. The running program was offered through the City of Ukiah and lasted for several weeks. Recently on October 19th, our cross county team was able to start training again here on campus.
Coach Fragoza works diligently to ensure the team follows COVID-19 protocols: “Despite anyone's personal opinions, our team plans to follow any guidelines put forth for high school athletic teams.”
One of his primary goals while coaching baseball will be having the team get along and work together efficiently. “I enjoy finding out athletes' unique personalities, and their abilities to contribute to the productivity of the team,” Coach Ford said.
